MOBILE ECG STUDY RECEIVES IRB APPROVAL TO EXPAND INTO 5TH SITE, UF HEALTH PRE-SURGICAL CENTER

GAINESVILLE, FL., JULY 12TH, 2021 — Equal Access Research’s largest digital health study will now be expanding to its fifth site at the UF Health pre-surgical center. Dr. Basma A Mohamed, Assistant Professor in the Divisions of Perioperative Medicine and Neuroanesthesia in the Department of Anesthesiology, will join the research group as our clinical point of contact.

Since beginning operations in late October 2020, the Mobile ECG study has grown to span 5 sites with patient enrollment happening 5 days a week from 8am to 4pm. A workforce of over 100 research assistants power our efforts of building a robust set of evidence to recommend the implementation of mobile ECGs as a ‘sixth vital sign’ for patients at an elevated risk for cardiovascular disease. Sites where this study is taking place include Nephrology, Sleep, Urology, and Ophthalmology.

The addition of the Pre-Surgical Center provides the research group a control population to ensure the accuracy of the Mobile ECG technology when compared to the 12-lead ECG ordered for the patients we recruit at the Pre-Surgical Center.

“Our ability to grow our operations from a group of 20 at 1 clinical site to well over 100 research assistants in 5 clinic locations in less than 1 year showcases Equal Access Research’s ability to run digital health studies at unprecedented scale in order to accelerate the adoption of medtech through clinical research.” Ajay Mittal, Director of Equal Access Research.

Operations at the Pre-Surgical Center are expected to begin by the end of July 2021.
