VIRTUAL REALITY STUDY TO BEGIN PATIENT ENROLLMENT AT DENTAL CLINIC
GAINESVILLE, FL., JUNE 29TH, 2021 — After spending May & June building up our new in-house training program and continuing enrollment at the oncology ward, we are excited to begin enrollment at our second clinical location today.
Distraction-based virtual reality provides the opportunity for patients to be immersed in digital worlds while undergoing medical/dental procedures. What we hope to gain operationally from our expansion into dental is an increased frequency of patient enrollment on a consistent basis. What we seek to evaluate is the acceptability and feasibility of VR in a dental clinic as well as the technology’s impact on perceived pain/anxiety as well as patient satisfaction.
Our current members will be leading enrollment at both the oncology and dental site, however a new cohort of ~15 research assistants will be joining the virtual reality study this Friday (July 2nd, 2021) and begin their training the following week.
“It’s an exciting time for digital health focused research and we are working hard to continually grow and expand our operations to power the largest studies attempted yet in this emerging intersection between medicine and technology.” Ajay Mittal, Executive Director of Equal Access Research
